I do know enough to plunk around on a keyboard and play some basic chords, and I'm interested in producing downtempo ambient soundscapes, drones, etc. For background, I have very little music theory knowledge and can't play piano, so wondering if the keyboard on the MPK Mini would be a waste for me. I understand the FIRE will be pretty much plug and play with FL Studio since it was specifically designed for it, and MPK Mini will take some work to get it set up, but aside from those differences, looking for opinions on one vs. I'm going to take some advice I read elsewhere, which is to gain at least basic proficiency with FL Studio before investing in a MIDI controller, but I've already got my eye on either the Akai FIRE or the Akai MPK Mini Mk2.
